Lignite better known as brown coal, is a mineral found in the Australian state of Victoria and in east Germany. The most common use of lignite is the generation of electricity. It is the dirtiest burning type of coal, this is due to lignite containing a large amount of chemical impurities. These pollute the surrounding environment when lignite is used as a fuel for power generation.
