The Lipizzan, or Lipizzaner (Slovene Lipicanec), is a breed of horse associated with Vienna's Spanish Riding School, where the white horses are trained to perform the elegant movements of classical dressage. The breed dates back to the 16th century, when it was developed for the Habsburg emperors.
