While attending Penn State Kranchick played in 23 games with the Penn State Nittany Lions and caught a total of 24 passes for 352 yards and a touchdown. The best game of his college career came on October 4, 2003 in a game vs the University of Wisconsin Badgers when he caught 4 passes for 136 and a touchdown (the touchdown came on a Kranchick career best 73 yard catch and run in the third quarter of the game).
In 2004, Kranchick was drafted in the sixth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was only active for two games (both starts) in his rookie season and did not make a reception. After the 2004 season the Steelers allowed the New York Giants to sign Kranchick from the Pittsburgh practice squad. As a New York Giant he played in six games (2005 season) and made one reception for six yards. After the season was completed though, Kranchick was allowed to become a free agent. On June 29, 2006, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but they released him from the team on the final preseason player cutdown and and he once again became a free agent. In December of 2006 the New England Patriots signed Kranchick to their practice squad before releasing him from the team on August 12, 2007. He is currently a free agent and can sign with any NFL team.
