Media event

A Media event is an event that is purposely arranged in order to give the press an opportunity to see an elected-official at work or to hear an official speak. It allows the politician some good press coverage and the ability to convey a message. An unarranged media event of the same sort, usually based around a scandal of some sort, is called a Media Circus.
