Kanji Taught at Junior High School Level

These are the tenth and last set of the 939 kanji characters that are taught to students during the three years (ages 13-15) they attend Middle (equivalent to Junior High) School in Japan. They are listed in the order in which they are taught. In some cases, there are no on'yomi or kun'yomi readings for the kanji. In this case, the cell has been left blank.

With the kun'yomi reading, the declensional kana ending (Okurigana) has been added in parenthesis, where appropriate.

The last column contains the radical (bushu 部首) associated with the specific kanji character, as well as the radical's number, according to the Bushu Index. This, together with the stroke count, will enable you to look up the kanji in a dictionary, or an on-line multi radical lookup.
