Mike Schmidt is widely considered the greatest third-baseman ever. He hit more than 500 home runs in his career while playing for the Philadelphia Phillies, and was a perennial winner of the Golden Glove award for his incredible fielding. His career spanned from 1972 to 1989, all for the Phillies.

Pete Rose said that Mike Schmidt, known as "Schmidty", was the finest talent Rose ever saw play the game of baseball.
