Monday Night Football has been a mainstay of sporting television since 1970. After a 36-year run on ABC, the program moved to ESPN in 2006.

Broadcasting a National Football League game at 9PM Eastern time (6PM west coast), it was the final game of the football week, with the other games being played on Sunday. Monday Night Football would use a small group of announcers. One of the more famous groups from the 1970s into the early 1980s was ex-football players Frank Gifford and Don Meredith, along with famous sports announcer Howard Cosell.
