The New Orleans Hornets are a professional basketball team originally based in New Orleans, Louisiana having moved from Charlotte in 2002. After the damage to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, the team played some of their home games in Oklahoma City at the Ford Center. If a new arena is not built in Seattle, Washington, the owners of the Supersonics have stated intentions to move their team to Oklahoma City in 2008.

The 2008 NBA All Star Game will be played in New Orleans, in part to support the city and the team.
