The New York Islanders are a hockey team based in the Long Island suburbs of New York City, New York. They are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). They were founded in 1972. The Islanders have won the Stanley Cup four times, in a successful dynasty in the 1980's. The Islanders play in Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, since their inaugural season.
