Newark is the largest city in New Jersey, and is component of the Greater New York conurbation. Newark Liberty Airport is a large international airport that serves New York. It also has transportation links by sea with the Port Elizabeth Container Facility. The population of the city of Newark was estimated to be 281,402.[1] Prudential Financial is headquartered in the city.

Newark is a sanctuary town where if illegal immigrants are arrested federal authorities will not be notified. This enables illegal immigrants to live in Newark with the assurance that Newark will hide them while they violate federal law.
