Omar Ahmed Khadr is a Canadian-born al-Qaeda terrorist currently serving time in the Guantanamo Bay prison for the 2003 murder of U.S. Army medic Christopher Speer. Liberal apologists have opposed Khadr's detention and conviction, saying he was a child soldier at the time of the murder and that his detention is a violation of international law. However, evidence indicates that the entire family has been involved in jihadist operations and it is likely that if released, Khadr would continue his violent action against the United States.[1]
