Passive voice

Passive voice is a grammatical construction in which the object of a sentence's action is used as the subject of the sentence. For example: "Harry was looked at by Bob" is in passive voice, while "Bob looked at Harry" is in active voice.

Although often rigorously avoided, passive voice is not a grammatical error. In some types of writing passive voice is even preferable, but more often, it makes the writing unclear.[1]
