For the 1941 battle, see Attack on Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor is a United States Naval Base on the island of O'ahu, Hawaii. Until the late 1800s, Pearl Harbor was teeming with pearl-bearing oysters, hence the name "Pearl" Harbor.[1]

Major Military Base: A Likely Nuclear Target Structure

Pearl Harbor has a major United States Armed Forces military base with likely nuclear weapon capabilities making it one of the primary targets among the world's major nuclear target structures in a possible nuclear war.[2] Pearl Harbor being a "first strike" nuclear war target is mostly due to missile silos, bomber bases, submarine bases, and command and control (C2) centers. The enemy must neutralize these assets immediately to prevent or minimize American nuclear or other military retaliation.
