Project Muse is a subscription-based academic journals site with 250 journals from over 40 publishers. It is operated by the Johns Hopkins University Press. It specializes in scholarly journals in the humanities. The subscribers are academic libraries, which make the full text of articles available online to students and faculty. The full texts are available from the mid 1990s to the present, with no "moving wall" or blackout of recent articles, such as that used by rival JSTOR. Project MUSE is adding back issues, a feature that is strong in JSTOR.

Prices range from $12,100 a year for a basic college collection to $36,400 for the complete collection; high school libraries are charged $1450 a year.
