Queen of Heaven

The term "Queen of Heaven" has various meanings. The only direct mention of a Queen of Heaven in the Old Testament is in Jeremiah, which denounces the worship of a pagan goddess by that title.[1] With the addition of the New Testament, Catholics have used the term to honor Mary [2], though the more proper use is Mary, Queen of the Universe. That title is from section 59 of Lumen Gentium, the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church issued in 1964 by the Second Vatican Council.
