Rebekah or Rebecca was the sister of Laban and the wife of Isaac. She met Isaac by a well while he was looking for a wife. By not only drawing water for him, but for his camels as well, she showed she was the woman that God had chosen for Isaac. Like her mother-in-law Sarah and her daughter-in-law Rachel, Rebekah suffered from infertility. In her case, she did not concieve for the first 20 years of marriage, but eventually gave birth to twins. The first she named Esau and the second Jacob.

Rebekah and Isaac had a different opinion on who was their favorite son. Rebekah favored Jacob whereas Isaac favored Esau. When Isaac was old and blind, Rebekah was the instigator of a plot with her son Jacob to trick Isaac into giving Jacob the blessing for the eldest son by pretending to be Esau. The plot worked, but caused great emnity between Esau and Jacob.

The story of Rebekah's life is found in the Old Testament section of the Bible in the book of Genesis.
