# Rectangle

From Conservapedia

(Redirected from Rectangles)

A **rectangle** is a polygon of four sides where every angle is a right angle (90°).^{[1]}

As a result of this definition:

- Each pair of opposite sides is of equal length.
- Opposite sides are parallel
- Diagonals are equal
- Adjacent sides are perpendicular
- Area = product of any two adjacent sides

Please note that the adjacent sides may or may not be of equal length. The special case where all four sides of a rectangle are equal is called a square, which is also a rhombus and a kite.

## Notes

- ↑ There are many definitions of
*rectangle*, but it seems sensible to use one which is based on angle properties rather than length or parallelism properties. Definition adapted from http://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/rectangle.html
