Richard V. Allen

Richard V. Allen was a United States National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1982. He had previously served on the National Security Council staff under President Richard Nixon. Both presidents represented the Republican party, the more conservative of the two main political parties in the United States.

Allen is currently a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, a think tank based on the campus of Stamford University in the state of Connecticut and named after Hoover, and a member of the advisory board to the Heritage Foundation's Asian Studies Center; the Heritage Foundation is a conservative think tank based in Washington D.C., the capital city of the United States.

He holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Notre Dame, a historically catholic university near South Bend, Indiana.
