Right-to-work laws

Right-to-work laws prohibit requiring union membership of workers. Nearly half the states in the United States have these laws to prohibit union-only shops.[1]
In non-right-to-work states, a worker is forced to join and pay dues to the union or, if he does not join, will still have to pay union dues.
