Robert N. Bellah

Robert N. Bellah (b. 1927) is a sociologist who is well-known for his scholarly work on the idea of an American Civil religion.[1] He is also known for co-editing the book Habits of the Heart[2] His Harvard Ph.D. thesis was "Tokugawa Religion: The Values of Pre-Industrial Japan", which is the basis for his bookTokugawa Religion: The Cultural Roots of Modern Japan [3]
