Henry Ross Perot is a successful businessman and two-time candidate for President of the United States. He became a billionaire as head of the company Electronic Data Systems. In the 1992 Presidential election he ran for President as an independent candidate and got 19% of the vote, which is the most any independent candidate has ever received. In the 1996 Presidential election he ran again as the candidate of the newly-founded Reform Party, which he helped to create, and got 8% of the vote. His quick zinging wit helped him to ride a wave of popularity when he announced his campaign for the Presidency in 1992, but had largely evaporated or backfired by the campaign of 1996. Perot let it be known he was not pleased when Pat Buchanan got the Reform Party nomination in 2000, but there was nothing he could do about it.
