Royal Rumble
The Royal Rumble is an event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment. It is one of the "Big Four" pay-per-views that WWE produces, with WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series being the other three. The Royal Rumble is the first pay-per-view to take place in the year, usually happening in late January. The main event is usually the Royal Rumble match itself. It consists of usually 30 men, although the 1988 event had 20 men and the 2011 event had 40 men. As of 2015, three women have entered the Royal Rumble match. Chyna in 1999 and 2000, Beth Phoenix in 2010, and Kharma in 2012. Every 90 seconds, a new wrestler enters the ring. The winner is determined after all men have entered, with all but the winner being eliminated. In 1992, the winner, being Ric Flair, won the vacant WWE Championship. Starting with the 1993 event, the winner usually goes on to a title match at that year's WrestleMania. The 2016 Royal Rumble match saw champion Roman Reigns defending the title during the match. 2018 saw the first women's Royal Rumble match, which was won by Asuka.
