Samuel P. Huntington is a Harvard professor of political science,[1] famous for writing the provocative book The Clash of Civilizations the Remaking of the World Order,[2] which hypothesized that, in the post-Cold War era, international conflict will be defined by clashes between diametrically opposed civilizations. To support his argument, Huntington broke the world down into five civilizations, and analyzed recent conflicts between the groups.

Huntington's thesis is widely criticized in academic circles, but popularly admired.
