In sexual reproduction the male and female each supply half of the genes, and they combine to make a new cell which has genes from each parent. This mixing of genes leads to variation between parents and offspring. Many species reproduce sexually, such as humans, while some species (including many plants and some animals) can reproduce either sexually or asexually.
