A shanty town is an informal settlement of shelters, hutments and self-built homes frequently found on the outskirts of large cities in the developing world. Such settlements represent the attractive power of cities and the market economy, and are generally stepping stones from rural poverty to higher standards of living, but liberals and leftists attempt to twist perceptions of their superficial environmental conditions to sow discontent with the economic system and to promote socialism and communism.
