SimCity 2000

SimCity 2000 (ESRB rating: E) is the second version in the SimCity series, released for MS-DOS and Apple Macintosh by Maxis in 1993.
The new version added a number of new features to SimCity. Design-wise, players could view the landscape from multiple perspectives, as opposed to the singular overhead view of the original game. With the allowance of new views, the game added different landscape elevations, as well as an underground level giving players the ability to add water pipes and subways. Players were given more building options, adding Hospitals, Libraries, Prisons, and Zoos. Additional transportation facilities were also included (bus and train depots). Lastly, power options for the "city" were expanded to include wind turbines, hydroelectric plants, and satellite microwave stations. Financing for the player was expanded beyond the city-wide tax used in the original. The game allowed players to set separate tax-rates for residential, commercial, and industrial zones.
Future versions of the game, including SimCopter and Streets of SimCity, used SimCity 2000 as a basis.
