Snowdon (Welsh:Yr Wyddfa) is the highest mountain in Wales; its summit is 1,085 metres above sea level. It is located in north-west Wales, in the county of Gwynedd, and in Snowdonia National Park. A rack and pinion railway, popular with tourists, runs to the summit of Snowdon, which can also be relatively easily reached on foot.

The English name Snowdon means 'snow hill'; the Welsh Yr Wyddfa means 'the grave'.
