St. Mary's College is a Catholic, all-women liberal arts school located across the street from Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. It has about 1600 students from 45 states and a few foreign countries. Over 80% of the students live on campus.[1]

Founded in 1844 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, St. Mary's College emphasizes foreign study (more than 25% of the students spent some time studying abroad). Its fall diversity lecture series in 2008 consists of three speakers specializing in race, multiculturalism and Islam.[2]

St. Mary's College is located about 20 minutes away by car from South Bend Regional Airport ("SBN") in the town of Notre Dame. It is located only two miles south of Route 80, 700 miles west of New York City.
