Sterling Hayden

Sterling Hayden (1916-1986) was a BAFTA-nominated B-picture American Actor. He was born as Sterling Walter in New Jersey. He had originally aspired to become a sailor, but soon found himself working as a print by for Paramount Pictures. Hayden later began acting for Paramount in 1941. Some of his roles include The Asphalt Jungle, Hellgate, Johnny Guitar, and Crime Wave. Hayden was known for his roles in westerns and film noir. In his later years, he appeared in many famous films such as Dr. Strangelove and The Godfather in which he plays a corrupt police officer assassinated by Michael Corleone. Hayden died of prostate cancer at the age of 70.[1]
