Stoke City F.C. is a British soccer team in the English Premier League. The team is based in the Midlands city of Stoke on Trent, and were newly promoted to the Premier League in 2008. They are managed by Tony Pulis and are sponsored by Britannia Building Society. They lost the FA Cup final of 2011 to Manchester City. Stoke are nicknamed the Potters due to the ceramics industry in the city. They play in red and white stripes and are famous for a direct, physical approach to their play which has gained results but few admirers.
