Super Bowl XXXVI
Super Bowl XXXVI was played on February 3, 2002 in New Orleans, Louisiana Super Dome between the New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams. The Patriots won the game by a score of 20-17 on a Adam Vinatieri 48 yard field goal as the last seconds of the game expired. Super Bowl XXXVI was the first Super Bowl to end with a game winning field goal.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the game award was awarded to Tom Brady, the quarterback of the Patriots who passed for 145 yards and a touchdown. Second in MVP voting was Patriots cornerback Ty Law who in the first half of the game intercepted a pass attempt from Rams quarterback Kurt Warner and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown.
