Tadeusz Kosciuszko

Tadeusz Kosciuszko was a Polish freedom fighter. He led revolts against Russia in his homeland, but is best known for his participation in the American Revolutionary War. He was born February 4, 1746 and died October 15, 1817. Kosciuszko was the head engineer of the Continental Army. He expressed deep love for the Declaration of Independence, which he said embodied everything he believed in. He was also a personal friend of Thomas Jefferson. There are many monuments in America and Poland made for him. He was made an honorary citizen of the United States.
