# Talk:Algebra terms

## Major Query

Will someone please explain why things like Box & Whisker Plots, Acute angle are included in Algebra? Clearly this section has been written by someone with only a very basic knowlwdge of mathematics, and little understanding that Algebra is an encompassing term which includes things like commutative algebras, non-commutative Algebras, Clifford Algebras, Lie Algebras etc.

In addition, any attempt to discuss 'Algebra', should reference its origins. The first person to use this term was Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī (780-850),sin a text entitled al-Kitāb al-mukhtaṣar fī ḥisāb al-jabr wa-l-muqābala (Arabic: الكتاب المختصر في حساب الجبر والمقابلة “The Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing”) written approximately 830 CE.

- This section certainly has plenty of room for improvement. Feel free to go ahead and start working on it. The Algebra articles will get much better given a little time for people to work on them. ~ SharonS

- Yes but the pages should be about Mathematics and Not algebra. Algebra and Geometry (another gripe as there are many different geometries) are elements within Mathematics. The whole thing is ill-conceived.
