This means that it is a study designed to eliminate experimenter bias. Experimenter bias has been shown to exist. This is important becuase it trains you to check your biases before you make conclusions about information that has been gathered and makes the interpretation of this information gathered more reliable. This is in stark contrast to religion that relies entirely upon faith.
