Talk:Bulk mail

Bulk mail, direct mail, and direct marketing are not strictly speaking the same thing. Direct mail is a subset of direct marketing but direct marketing also includes telemarketing, online shopping, TV infomercials, etc. Direct mail also does not always fall under the bulk mail category. I started the article on direct mail because direct mail was redlinked in two different articles. Anyway these three subjects, while related, could probably eventually each get an article of their own. Parrothead 18:28, 23 August 2008 (EDT)

Yes, please distinguish the three in the article ... as you began to do in your comment above. I daresay bulk mail is a class of mail, and it might have something to do with presorting them to get a reduced postage rate. --Ed Poor Talk 18:48, 23 August 2008 (EDT)
Okay - the problem then was I didn't distinguish among the three in the initial version of the article? I didn't quite understand the hostility in the edit summaries. Parrothead 19:02, 23 August 2008 (EDT)
Did I hurt your feelings, bud? Sorry, I'll be less brusque next time. (The last movie I saw about newspapers, the editors were constantly barking orders at the reporters. ;-) --Ed Poor Talk 19:05, 23 August 2008 (EDT)
No prob, I'm getting used to this anytime I try to edit anything anywhere on the web anymore. Must be an Internet thing. Parrothead 19:13, 23 August 2008 (EDT)
