Talk:Caravel

I am not happy with the picture. The "Tudor" caravel does not appear in my fairly extensive books on the subject. The web sites always caption the picture with "1470", a date prior to the arrival of the Tudors. It is an early caravel, but it strikes me as being a bit iffy. AlanE 23:09, 2 June 2007 (EDT)

You're right on that. The Tudor caravel had square sails; this one is fully lateen-rigged. If you got a better pic, upload it. Karajou 23:21, 2 June 2007 (EDT)

Cook's "Endeavour"; Nelson's "Victory"; Columbus' "Santa Maria" etc. "The" is written/spoken if the commander is not included in the possessive. I read it and they didn't look or sound right as normal English, so I have deleted them I hope that's all right. AlanE 17:20, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
