Recognition as genocide

Has the American government recognized it as genocide? Because I'm pretty sure that if they had officially recognized it as genocide, they would be compelled to act under the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which the US ratified in 1988. --TrueGrit 16:51, 8 April 2007 (EDT)

The Secretary-General of the U.N., as reflected in the article, blames the genocide in Darfur on global warming. Is this explanation true? If not, then alternative explanations should be provided. The virtue of Conservapedia is that it seeks to publish content that is actually true, rather than merely being attributable to reliable sources. Npov2 13:42, 18 January 2009 (EST)
