Yes the north was right to prevent Southern secession in the US Civil war. They where right because the south said they where just volunteering as states. They only said this because it was an excuse to get out of the country. It is just like changing the rules of a game in the middle of the game. Mabey it could have been that Abe Lincoln felt the south could not stand alone and wanted to help them. In order to do that they had to stay one country. The North might not have known what life was like for the South and felt like the South just was board of being in the USA. In conclusion the North did the right thing to prevent Southern secession.
