Fanfare for the Common Man is not a song! It is for orchestra. It is what it is entitled: a fanfare. It is also the first part of the last movement of Copland's Third Symphony. AlanE 18:51, 15 December 2008 (EST)

You are correct. Where shall we put it, then? I couldn't think of an appropriate sucategory. I'd invent one but it seems this would be the only article included. WesleySHello! 19:05, 15 December 2008 (EST)
Wesley, I don't think it matters if there is a category or sub-category with only one thing in it. Soon there may be two. How about you introduce a Category: "Fanfare" (or "Popular musical miniatures" may be better) , put old FanfareFTCM into it and I'll add to it next time I get time away from family chores? This time last week there was with only one thing in it. Look at it now.

(I didn't know what to put Cecil Sharp in when I did him,so he went in both Music and Composers...but he was not a composer. He was a collector and editor of folk music, so we should have a "Folk music" cat for him.)

BTW, I haven't time now, but I intend changing some music articles between Style and Form. Eg you have Sonata in one and Symphony in another (I think). Serenade and Suite in different cats. Things like that. Let me know if I'll be treading on toes. Cheers AlanE 20:34, 15 December 2008 (EST)
Perhaps I just move too fast when cleaning up a category. Please feel free to move anything you like to a more appropriate category, as I have no special powers here, and am just trying to sweep up the place. Thanks! WesleySHello! 16:34, 16

OK, thanks...did you see my comment on your talk page about "classical works", any problems do you think? AlanE 16:41, 16 December 2008 (EST)
Yes, and I took your advise. New category Category:Classical Works is now the happy home of Fanfare for the Common Man and The Planets. Category is linked to both Category:Songs and Category:Music. WesleySHello! 16:56, 16 December 2008 (EST)
Great! Thanks mate.AlanE 17:24, 16 December 2008 (EST)
