Talk:Gladiator
From Conservapedia
I removed some sections and added a {{fact-history}}
- From what I understand, while some historians claim that the Coliseum was filled with water, most just agree that it was possible, but no proof can be found either way. At most, it would have only been able to hanldle 1 or 2 sea battles total; the cement used at the base wasn't of a high enough waterproofing quality to last much more than that.
- As for "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" this is largely considered to be a rumor started by a painting made several hundred years after the fact (I can't remember the painting off the top of my head, sorry). There is doccumentation that the ruler "turned his thumb", but nobody knows if he turned it down for death, or up, only that he turned it.
- Lastly, I have NEVER heard of Chrisianity as the reason for Gladiator downfall. It very well may be, but there needs to be a source. Jazzman831 14:47, 14 August 2007 (EDT)
