Have you ever had a hamster, Fox? I have, and it would have been easier to keep a pet elephant. They disappear under floorboards, they clamber into domestic appliances, they chew holes in carpets, they... I could go on <sigh>. Pachyderm 12:13, 15 June 2007 (EDT)

My youngest son has a Russian hamster - named Pompey - it hates people and is completely, totally nocturnal :D However, the dog barks when it scurries around at night, and my youngest daughter is convinced that her only purpose in life is to wake it up during the day, at the top of her voice if necessary. A common mistake in spelling is Hampster. This may be closer to a common pronunciation of the word. Markr 23:29, 17 October 2008 (EDT)
