Talk:Messerschmitt Bf 109
From Conservapedia
Maybe we should add a section describing the reason why it is sometimes called the Me-109 by Americans?
- I would have thought the "Me" designation would have been rather obvious, if not strictly correct (Bf refers to Bayerische Flugzeugwerke, the name of the company when the Bf 109 and Bf 110 were designed). I agree, it does deserve a small section.--Frey 18:55, 28 September 2008 (EDT)
"At the outbreak of the war it was easily the best purpose-built fighter in the world." Eh? Doesn't the Spitfire get a look in? --Toffeeman 18:49, 28 September 2008 (EDT)
Some reckon the Hurricane was better than both of them in overall performance and reliability. But, oh, wasn't the Spitfire a beauty! AlanE 19:10, 28 September 2008 (EDT)
- The Hurricane and Spitfire both deserve kudos, but in 1939 they were both powered by carbureted engines, which directly impacted their maneuverability, as opposed to the Bf 109's advanced direct injected Daimler-Benz engine. --Knullmaskin 15:18, 19 July 2009 (EDT)
