- Income tax is calculated based on the mortgage value of properties, not the purchase value. Myk 15:09, 13 April 2007 (EDT)
- I removed the comparison to Chess and Checkers. It seemed an odd digression... their derivation and type are completely different from Monopoly and information about them belongs on their own pages. Monopoly is also not as popular as Backgammon or Go or Pachisi, but this article is not intended to mention all of the games that Monopoly is less popular than. Myk 15:24, 13 April 2007 (EDT)
History
While Charles Darrow developed Monopoly, it is strongly based on a game made by Elizabeth Magie in 1903 called the Landlord's Game[1]. This has no relationship to the depression. The early history of Monopoly can be read at [2]. --Rutm 12:02, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
