The title of this might be changed to 'US National Anthem'. There are other countries, and other anthems. Sawneybeane 06:15, 21 February 2008 (EST) Concur: this should either be made USA specific or expanded as a general entry explaining what an anthem is , and the way a national song is chosen. Yes. I was about to do an article on the form, but there is no point until it is recognised that other nations have them. AlanE 16:27, 11 January 2009 (EST)
I do not mind moving it accordingly, if somebody is going to write a "national anthem" article. What would be the best name - "National Anthem of the U.S.A."? What is it commonly called? --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 16:46, 11 January 2009 (EST)
I'd just as soon call it "The Star Spangled Banner". JY23 16:48, 11 January 2009 (EST)
It is already there. Maybe merge? --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 16:52, 11 January 2009 (EST)

I'll do a "National anthem" article in the next day or so. When its ready for "public viewing" I will tack it on the bottom of this article. People can then play with it as they wish, and transfer the current article to - um - my preference would be "The Star Spangled Banner". (It will, of course, be mentioned and linked in my article. Is that all right? (I still have to find a place for the "anthem" article I have written. I have a fundamental dislike of its be subservient to a relatively obscure novel, especially as there are already various mentions of the term through other articles in CP, all referring to the choral piece.)
