I removed the reference to the fall as a 'genetic defect', which is meaningless in the context of the story of Adam and Eve and thoroughly unscientific in its use of the word 'genetic'. I added two balancing interpretations of the Adam and Eve story. Britinme 23:42 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Unification Church teachings

I suggest it be removed from this article and added to the Unification Church under a section called "beliefs". HenryS 16:12, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Agreed. If you have time, please go ahead and do this. --Ed Poor Talk 16:16, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Revised "creation of man"

I revised the imprecise assertion that Jesus is a "creation of man" (which also grammatically suggests that man made him up as a fictional creation). The revision makes explicit the theological teaching that He is the uncreated, begotten Son and Word of God in His divine nature, and not a creature, although as man in His human nature He is a true member of the creature Man and one with the whole of the creation, but that through him as a man and as representative head and member of the whole body of humanity all of Man has made reparation (atonement) for all human sin, and that the New Creation came into being in Him. --Dataclarifier (talk) 18:46, 18 January 2017 (EST)

"There is no concept of Original sin in Jewish theology"

This phrasing, often used to justify antisemitism, should probably be removed unless it can be supported. RobSAbnormal is fine. Stupid isn't. 11:50, April 30, 2026 (EDT)

Question: Does this mean that "Jewish theology" teaches or implies that man, or the sons of Adam, are born sinless or without a "sin nature"? RobSAbnormal is fine. Stupid isn't. 12:39, April 30, 2026 (EDT)

God does not create slaves. He created both Lucifer (a spirit being) and Adam (of flesh and blood whose seed is within itself) with free will. Lucifer committed the first sin, when he rejected God and tried to make himself God (or the purpose of his existence). Adam followed suit. Hence, the misunderstanding or error of interpretation of this non-scriptural doctrine (it appears nowhere in Biblical texts), often making it entirely carnal - that a man and not a spirit being committed the first sin. What begins as a "teaching device" in earlier generations gets handed down as "doctrine". In this case, the errant "doctrine" often became that Adam "committed the first sin" by rejecting God, when it actually was Lucifer, a spirit being, who disobeyed and challenged God.
It's the same as the story of the prodigal son. The prodigal rejected his father in favor of making his own way. In both Judaism and Christianity, the prodigal is welcomed back. In fact, the gentile Christian church adopted the Jewish theological notions of redemption, forgiveness, and restoration. The Jews had it first. RobSAbnormal is fine.
