What school of thought claims that Pearl Buck was not a Presbyterian missionary? Both her father and husband were missionaries to China. To me, it's incomprehensible that she did not serve as a missionary, however heretical, disobedient, self-righteous, and unGodly she became at times. --RickD 06:02, 29 March 2009 (EDT)

"Missionary" has a specific meaning = official designation and financial support from a church. she was a college teacher in China as was her husband. Her parents were missionaries by this definition, but not her. She was never funded by the missionary system, never employed in a mission, and her biographers do not call her a missionary.RJJensen 07:13, 29 March 2009 (EDT)
