Is this not a damging concept, that allows Liberals to hoodwink the people by dressing up proposed legislation, and disguising the supposed outcomes, to stifle dissent? Many small manifestations of rational ignorance add up to an abandonment of political engagement by the people, and the self-selected political radical elite know this. One might argue that rational ignoprance enabled the liberal social 'reforms' o fthe 1960s and 1970s; only recently, and at great cost, have we been able to reclaim the territory lost.
