Most Christians deny the possibility of life outside of Earth?
I would like to remove the sentence "SETI is supported mostly by atheists, as most Christians deny the possibility of life outside of Earth" because I do not believe it is true. I do not know the procedure for doing this on the website so I am asking. My reason for wanting to remove the sentence is that the Chief Vatican Astronomer and Jesuit scholar Father José Funes said that to believe extra-terrestrial life is impossible is not right "because we cannot place limits on the creative freedom of God." I believe this is true with all my heart even though I do not believe in aliens one way or another. This is the only statement from a Church affiliated scholar in maybe 300 years. It is obviously not a Papal encyclical or Pontifical Council Interpretation of Canon law but it is very clearly in support of the possibility of God's creations elsewhere. Catholics are the largest group of Christians in the world. A little more than half of all Christians are Catholic. If it is not a doctrinal problem for Catholics to accept the possibility that there are extra-terrestrials it can't be true that "most Christians deny the possibility of life outside of Earth. Maybe the sentence could be changed to exclude Catholics or to provide a citation so we can examine this issue more. Thank you. Nate 14:06, 16 September 2010 (EDT)
