The Topeka Capital-Journal is a daily morning newspaper based in Topeka, Kansas. It was formed in 1981 by the merger of the Topeka Daily Capital (founded 1879) and the Topeka State Journal (founded 1873 as the Topeka Blade). The two papers had been under the same ownership since 1956. Since 1994 it has been owned by Morris Communications.
