A topping cycle is a system which produces power and then uses waste heat or exhaust in an alternative way.

For example, a boiler produces steam to power a turbine-generator to produce electricity. The steam leaving the turbine is used in thermal applications such as space heating and/or cooling or delivered to other end user(s).[1]
